Distinctive, creative and original, Ian Shaw is widely regarded as one of the greatest male jazz vocalists in the world, with his exquisite interpretations of popular classics and accomplished original material. Twice winner of the BBC Jazz Award his talent and technical ability is undeniable and his 14th studio LP, produced by BBC Radio 3’s Claire Martin, includes innovative takes on songs by the likes of David Bowie, Lionel Bart and Joni Mitchell.

With a career that began on the alternative cabaret circuit, alongside fellow performers Julian Clary, Rory Bremner and Jo Brand, Shaw is renowned for his ability to weave storytelling and comedy into his performances. The Guardian describes him as a “gifted, technically awesome and theatrically witty” singer, displaying extraordinary talents on the piano. A mainstay in the jazz community, this musician is a regular at iconic venue Ronnie Scott’s, whilst also presenting their worldwide radio show for Jazz FM and has collaborated with artists, from Van Morrison, to Nigel Kennedy, Kurt Elling and The Who’s Pete Townsend. Touring his new album in the UK throughout this year alongside trio Barry Green (piano), Mick Hutton (bass) and Dave Ohm (drums), this multitalented artist remains a leader in the modern jazz scene.
