Adina, a wealthy sophisticated land-owner, barely notices the ardent admiration of country lad Nemorino. Competing against the impressive Sergeant, Belcore, his only hope is to turn to madcap salesman Dulcamara and the promises of the effects of his extraordinary love potion!

Will the elixir have the desired effects on Adina's indifference?  Will Nemorino win her love? Does his impending inheritance have anything to do with his newfound popularity? Donizetti balances tender moments of affection and genuine pathos with  pattering gossip and hilarious pandemonium!

With a leading cast of principals and chorus, this joyous romantic comedy sweeps the audience along in a fast-paced and flamboyant tale of tender young love with some of the most effervescent melodies ever written.
