Celebrate Voice presents its 12th festival opera production with a return to Puccini and Madama Butterfly.

Puccini’s heartbreaking masterpiece tells the story of Cio-Cio-San, a young geisha who falls deeply in love with the American naval officer Pinkerton. Believing their marriage to be binding and eternal, she sacrifices everything for him. But Pinkerton sees their union as temporary, and when he returns years later with a new wife, Butterfly’s devotion meets its tragic fate.

Puccini’s radiant score, shimmering with colour and soaring lyricism, carries us through moments of aching intimacy to sweeping passion, culminating in one of opera’s most devastating finales.

Celebrate Voice assembles a cast of rising stars alongside distinguished operatic voices, bringing fresh energy and profound artistry to one of the world's most beloved operas.

Presented in the festival's uniquely intimate setting of the Medieval Hall, audiences can expect an immersive experience that brings them closer than ever to the raw emotion and soaring beauty of Puccini's masterpiece.
